Dashboard Navigation

We've recently been looking at an enhanced navigation tool for the BBFG.  The new feature shows replies to posts, recent posts, profile updates and a variety of other activity feeds for various parts of a group.

We've decided to add a beta of this to the Intro page as it usually has quite a bit of screen real estate available and would appear as soon as users log into a group.  Here is a screenshot of what we have so far with some test data.

Each section here can be hidden or shown using a min/max toggle button in the top right.  This interface is completely customizable through CSS so the compact look can be redesigned with minimal effort.

Add Your Feedback!
Here is an anonymous iMarkIt exercise to leave some feedback on the Dashboard:

The dashboard still under development so any feedback you have now would be greatly appreciated and could still be incorporated into the production release.

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

It would be nice to have an alert for the respondent to see where they have got a probe from the moderator - and maybe a feature for the moderator to assign the respondent or ALL or specific respondents ...

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

Thanks for the feedback Ilka! We would like to tie this into a forced probes piece in the future. Right now it works well as an easier way to find probes but I can definitely see us being able to add a section to show posts that have somehow been flagged.

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

I'm getting crochety in my old age, Adam... I'm just not sure what it's trying to solve. I felt a bit overwhelmed at all the new information when I looked at it. Hopefully you'll make it an optional tool!

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

The dashboard is setup to be on or off.

The main problem I think its trying to solve is directing users to the content they need to see. So either new questions, posts or replies to them. This tool may be the needed stepping stone to forced responses to probes which has been requested quite a bit.

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

OK, I understand a bit better now. Still, I've always thought that a) participants should endeavour to read ALL the posts in a bulletin board, in part because that will help build a sense of community b) one of the (almost inherent) difficulties in BBs is the lack of interaction between participants.

It follows that if we direct participants to one question or another, then we are abetting the kind of behaviour that may make bulletin boards less like groups and more like parallel interviews.

Re: The Itracks Dashboard

I totally agree with you Pierre and I'm hoping the Dashboard will increase interaction. The "Replies to your posts" section should allow respondents to quickly see posts other people have sent them (including the moderator) and there is the "Recent Posts" section where they'll be able to see the latest comments in the board that are not necessarily directed to them.

Right now respondents will have to visit each thread to look for those replies and recent posts but the dashboard will have it right there. I'm hoping the time it saves them looking will encourage them to interact more.
